At the core of Refuge International’s success are the people who give so generously of their time, talents, and hearts. Among the most dedicated is the Greifenkamp family of Longview, Texas, whose unwavering commitment has become a cornerstone of our work in Guatemala.

Since 2021, Dr. Jonathan Greifenkamp, a cardiologist, and his wife, Jillian, a former Physician Assistant, have been faithfully serving on medical mission trips with Refuge International. Not only do they bring vital clinical expertise and compassionate care, but they’ve also made our mission a true family affair. Their sons, Austin and Thomas, have each joined them on trips, contributing in countless ways and embodying the spirit of service that defines their family.

But the Greifenkamps’ impact goes far beyond what happens in clinic. Week in and week out, Jillian devotes more than 20–30 hours of her time at our Longview warehouse, sorting donations, organizing supplies, and meticulously packing for upcoming missions. Her dedication behind the scenes ensures that our teams are equipped and prepared, and her leadership in logistics is nothing short of extraordinary.

The Greifenkamps represent the very best of what Refuge International stands for: selfless service, deep compassion, and unwavering commitment to improving lives. Their involvement has shaped the way we operate and has elevated the care we’re able to provide to those who need it most.

Quite simply, Refuge International could not exist without the Greifenkamps. They are an invaluable part of our team, our mission, and our story—and we are deeply grateful for their continued support.
